Teddington RFC are pleased to announce that former Youth Chairman and now Club Vice Chairman Simon Cartmell has been awarded a Richmond Council Community Award for his 15 years of volunteering for the club. He was Youth Chairman for 10 years and his tireless dedication has driven the club from being a fledgling minis section of a handful of players to a youth section of with over 600 players
More recently, Simon was one of the driving forces that enabled the club to raise funds for its new club house and he spent many, many hours managing the project to its successful conclusion last year.
There were a high level of nominations this year, but the judges decided that Simon’s hours of volunteering were worthy of the award. Simon will attend an award ceremony on 6th September and he will be presented with a certificate, commemorative lapel pin and thanks to England 2015, three tickets to see France v Italy play in a Rugby World Cup match at Twickenham Stadium on the 19th September.
On hearing of the award Simon said “It’s very good to be recognised for doing what I love doing anyway, and as I see it, it’s actually recognition for all WE have achieved in our little corner of Teddington”.
